About
I enjoy exploring new art media and pushing conventional materials in new directions. Recently I discovered my mixed-media works on paper could yield dozens of macro shots, each having potential to become a painting on its own. By combining conventional media with digital paint and brushes, I can create textures unachievable any other way.
Except for a few figure sketches, all of the monotypes and a few of the portraits, the pieces on this site are digital, which allows printing in a range of sizes on various substrates, such as aluminum, canvas, or paper.
About Me:
I began painting before I knew what art was. Though encouraged to put my crayons away after kindergarten, those pleasurable memories of defacing the walls of my family home lingered.
It wasn't until after I earned my B.A. that I began my art education in earnest. For decades I attended art academies and universities throughout the SF Bay Area while working full-time in other fields. My prints and paintings were exhibited through competitions across the U.S. from the early 1970s though the 1990’s. My last gallery show, “Clothed in Memory” at the Joseph Chowning Gallery in San Francisco was reviewed in Artweek, Vol 28, No. 10, October 1997. What I learned from this period was that I enjoyed the process of making art but not the business side. Making my living separate from art, though it limited my studio time, allowed me to preserve and amplify the joy I felt as a toddler when I first picked up my crayons.
I'm now able to spend the bulk of my time doing what I love most: painting and drawing.
